Richard, focal length of 105mm isn't good for reversing as macro. Try 50mm or less.

I have a Nikon D3 and would love to try this as I have several older AIS lenses for older Nikon film cameras.

I've tried using my Micro Nikkor 105mm f2.8 lens by holding it against the D3 But can't get it to focus.

Is this because this lens isn't suitable for this kind of work; if so is there a chart available to say which lenses are?
