It is not well known but Capture NX can be used for many portrait retouching purposes. In the example above, I reduced the dark circles under the eyes, changed the eye and lip colors, and removed the reflections on the nose and face.

Is it possible to have a tutorial? I think I can figure most things out, but it would be nice to know for certain. Is this a Gaussian blur?

Chris,
I am working on it. In summary, use colorize and Gaussian blur to reduce dark circles and use LCH to change colors. In both cases, use the selection brush to selectively apply the effect. It works best with a pen tablet such as Wacom Intous 3.

Max:
I, too, am looking forward to your tutorial here; your work here is exemplary: your knowledge is quite thorough and your tutorials are very well-written.
As an alternate to the methods you discuss above, have you tried any Nik filters (e.g., ‘Dynamic Skin Softener’)?
Keep up the great work!
