It can be done. I have a Nokia E71. I installed a free program called Sports Tracker from Nokia. It can keep a GPS track of a walk during which I take photos. Basically it is a GPS logger. I then save a track file in GPX format that I can use in another software program (for example http://geotag.sourceforge.net/?q=node/1) to tag the photos I take during the walk.

Have you thought about extracting coordinates from your phone? I want to get a phone with integrated GPS for geotagging with my DSLR but can't seem to come by any info on the web.
