If you are the type that are consistently demanding the best performance from your camera gear, the CF/SD Performance Database compiled by Rob Galbraith of Digital Photography Insights should be interesting to you. It is a regularly updated database of read and write speed test results from Compact Flash and Secure Digital flash media cards designed to help the serious and professional photographers in selecting camera storage media for most Canon, Nikon, and some Sony digital SLR cameras.
Currently, the database has tests results obtained from the following DSLR cameras. The latest addition is the result for Sony A900. In most tests, Sandisk cards lead, followed immediately by Lexar cards. So performance wise, there aren’t many choices. The speed difference between the best and worst performing cards can be dramatic. There is no mentioning of reliability and durability of any of the cards but I’d recommend always getting the cards from leading brands (Sandisk, Lexar, etc).
