Previously I had a post about how to create Orton Effect using Nikon Capture NX. Although it was written for version 1.x of Capture NX, the basic steps should work fine for NX2. So I didn’t rewrite it for NX2. I did, since I am having fun making videos, create a quick (less than 2 minutes) video tutorial on how to create the Orton Effect in Capture NX2. For best clarity, please view the HD version.

These tutorials are really great. Thank you.
That is really good – thanks a lot for these tutorials.
I was hunting around today for photoshop tutorials for creating nice even
toned exposure – to give photos a really CLEAN clear even look, few harsh shadows, yet cclear and bright…similar to what you see in some photo stock agencies or magazines. But I do prefer using Capture NX2 whenever possible.
Any tips on achieving that look using Capture NX2?
For an example of the style, have a look at http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-23151040-windmills-in-the-danish-marsh-near-esbjerg-denmark-is-a-very-big-windmill-farm.html at the bottom of the h.
Anne, I am not seeing obvious special processing on that photo. It is most likely the result of the particular lighting condition when the photo was taken. Generally to achieve even toned image, you could try adjusting brightness and contrast or play with the levels & curves tool.
