Happy New Year to all DPTnT readers! My deepest appreciation goes to all the visitors of this site that have made the last year’s blogging journey a great joy for me. You can expect great new stuff to come in the New Year of 2010. One of my new year’s resolutions is to grow this site by 5x in terms of page views and visitors. I know this cannot happen without better contents and your continued support.

If you’d like to offer any suggestions on how best I can help you to help me, please kindly use the comment area below or use the contact form.

Thank you and have a joyful and productive New Year!

I just realized that the anti-spam technology we used on DPTnT may be too aggressive. It improperly tagged some valuable user comments as spam.

I apologize for the mistakes. Please try to leave the comments again. If you still experience problem with our comment system, please feel free to report it using the contact form for by directly emailing us at info@dptnt.com.

Thanks.

register

I have a steady stream of readers who register on DPTnT. I’d like to take this opportunity to formally welcome you to our website. It is the continued visits of our readers including you that have me motivated on improving this blog. Thank you.

Registration on this website is encouraged but not necessary in order to participate in reading or commenting. Registered readers can customize their profiles for desired appearance in the comments. Our comment system supports gravatar, which allows you to setup one globally recognized avatar that will show up on all blogs that have this functionality enabled in the comments. All you have to do is use the same email address in the comment forms everywhere you make a comment.

There are many ways to read DPTnT.  The most common way is by visiting our site at http://dptnt.com. If you visit the site from your mobile phone, the site will automatically detect it and present you with a specially formatted version suited for small screens. We also provide RSS feed that you can read using any feed reader. Or you can subscribe to our email newsletter. You can also follow us on Twitter. To share your photos and shooting experiences, you are welcome to join our flickr group.

Please feel free to contact us at info[at]dptnt[dot]com or use the online contact form for any suggestions, comments, or questions.

Thank you.

It has been a busy weekend but it is finally coming to an end. Many of you probably have noticed the big changes here. I hope the changes will put DPTnT at a new starting point moving forward. Here are the list of changes we made recently:

  • New theme. The new theme is much less cluttered with a simpler layout. We went from a three column main page to a two column main page. The important contents are now on the left side. Navigation links are on the right side only, instead of spreading left and right on the previous layout.
  • New comment system. We are now using DISQUS. DISQUS is a universal comment system for blogs. Users setup account (completely free) at DISQUS and comments can be made at any blogs (including DPTnT) that supports it. DISQUS can keep track of individual user’s comments left at various blogs. It is a very cool technology. Sign up at DISQUS and take a spin in the comment section below.
  • New site search. We have updated the Google powered site search function to make finding relevant information on DPTnT easier.
  • New mobile access. You can access DPTnT from your PDA, iPhone, or other smartphones. Simply enter http://dptnt.com on your mobile browser to access the mobile version of the site.

If you find anything not functioning properly or have any comments/suggestions, please kindly let us know. Thank you and enjoy the new site.

Welcome to the new DPTnT community forums. It is still in testing phase but you are encouraged to poke around and start discussions in related forums.

The forums use the same user IDs as our main blog so you only need to register once here or there.

Both blog comments and the forums now support gravatar, the globally recognized avatar system. It is really cool!

If you encounter any problems, please feel free to let us know (picmax[at]gmail[dot]com).

Thank you.

Just a quick note to let you know that we have added a convenient print function to our articles. At the bottom of each article, you will find a row of buttons and links like this:

Share, RSS feed, Email, and Print buttons/links.

Share, RSS feed, Email, and Print buttons/links.

After you click on “Print This Post” link, a specially formatted page suitable for printing will show up. You can then print the article without all the clutters of the normal page.

If the article contains links, the print page will show you the complete URLs as footnotes. In addition, you have the option to skip the comments. Check it out and let us know if there is any bug or suggestions.

I have not been able to keep the site updated for quite a while. I just had to take care of other priorities of my life. Things got settled down now so I hope I can find more time working on my photography hobby and this blog.

To my surprise, I am still getting quite steady count of visitors every day. Feedburner stats shows that I now have more subscribers than ever. Thank you for all your support!

If you tried to access DPTnT from your mobile devices (photo or PDA), it was probably not a pleasant experience due to the site layout. Now it is the time to try again. We have implemented two different methods for your mobile access needs.

  • The first one is transparent to users. Simply visit us from your mobile device and our site will automatically detect it and deliver a specially formatted content optimized for mobile access.
  • The second one will require you to bookmark a special URL on your mobile device. You can click here, or enter the following as a bookmark:

The first one is a fully featured mobile version of DPTnT that includes the support of comments. The second is simply a Google feed reader optimized for mobile devices. Please let us know if they work and which one works better for you.
