I have many posts here at DPTnT about Nikon Capture NX and NX2 but few about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. The reason is simple: I can do many things in a more straight-forward manner in Capture NX and I don’t typically have tons of images to get through quickly.

I had Adobe Lightroom since 1.0 was launched in early 2007 even through Lightroom’s history dates back to 2002. Before that, I was a user of Pixmantic’s excellent Rawshooter Premium RAW converter. Adobe acquired Pixmantic in June 2006 and incorporated many of Rawshooters features and technologies into the eventual release of Lightroom 1.0. Unfortunately the free version called Rawshooter Essentials was killed by Adobe and the RAW world lost a great piece of free software. The reaction back then was mixed and the path for Lightroom hasn’t been smooth either until V1.4 and 2.x were released. Read More…

Once you install the mobile application on your phone, your photos can be automatically uploaded to Photoshop.com where you can then view, edit, and share them. Nik Software, the maker of the Capture NX Raw editing software for Nikon NEF, has released a new software called Viveza for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. The new software brings the revolutionary U-Point technology to Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Element users. Digital photographers who do not use Nikon cameras, or who do not use Capture NX,  can now effortlessly enhance and correct the light and color selectively within the photograph without using complicated masks and layers in Photoshop.

U Point powered Color Control Points, with easy-to-use controls that are directly placed on colors or objects in a photo, can be used by photographers to quickly adjust brightness, contrast or color in a fraction of the time needed by other tools or methods.

Nik Software has some video demonstrations on how Viveza and U-Point technology works. A 15-day trial version can be downloaded here.
