Panditital, well recognized name in digital picture frame market, has announced the world’s thinnest PanTouch Clear 10.4-inch digital photo frame at the Photo Marketing Association Show (PMA) in the Las Vegas Convention Center. The claimed thickness of 1/3 inch is very thin, actually about 30% thinner than iphone 3G (0.48 inch). Other nice specs of the device are the high resolution screen (1024×768, 4:3), 2GB included storage, Wi-Fi/bluetooth/USB connectivity, 6-in-1 card reader, video/mp3 playback, timer/calendar functionality, and changable decorative frames. The 32 inch “world’s largest photo frame” seems too small after LG introduces its 47″ HDTV that can be used as a digital photo frame when in standby mode. Using only 10-15% percent of its normal power, the TV can display your favorite photos, paintings, or scenes from TV program.  There isn’t much more details yet, but you can definitely try to digest every words in the press release (Engadget) and dream about it.

According to this article on Ars Technica, malwares have been found in the software bundled with some digital photo frames being sold by well known retailers such as Wal-Mart and Amazon. Definitely check your digital photo frame against the affected units mentioned in the article if you just got it during this holiday season. The following is a copy of the email Amazon sent to its customers who purchased the Samsung SPF-85H 8-inch Digital Photo Frame (Found in this discussion thread on Amazon’s message board).

If you have not been impressed by the small digital photo frames so far, this giant digital photo frame from Smartparts will likely get you to pause and think. The 32″ SP3200WF features a 16:9 LCD panel with high definition 1,366 x 768 resolution. It can display 16.7Million colors, playback video and sound (WMA and MPEG), and display PDF and Powerpoint slideshows. 

It is wall mountable with a nice-looking wooden frame. It has a small 256M internal memory but supports SD/MMC/MS/xD/CF memory card formats. The Wi-Fi connectivity allows syncing to PC, Windows Live Gallery, and displaying RSS feeds. 

No words on price and availability yet. We will definitely keep you posted when we found more.

Sony has just announced Vaio Wi-Fi digital photo frame model VGF-CP1, featuring a 7″ display with 800×480 resolution with 16M+ colors, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), 128MB internal memory, Memory Stick/SD/CF card slots, RSS feed reader and a built-in MP3 player that can play SHOUTcast Internet radio using its stereo speakers. The CP1 digital photo frame can also play back photos stored on your PC and on Google’s Picasa Web Albums wirelessly. It will cost about $300 and be available in mid October.
